Autologous Fat Transfer
Autologous fat transfer involves the removal and reinjection of the patient’s own body fat. It is most commonly used to revolumize the aging face but can also be used to enhance and reconstruct breasts or correct surgical or traumatic defects in the skin and soft tissue. Fat is removed through liposuction, often from the abdomen, buttocks or thighs, cleansed and then re-injected into the area being treated.
Fat transfer can give very long lasting results but when injected into facial areas can result in long downtime—up to 2-3 weeks—of swelling and bruising.
