A Recognized Expert: Dr. Rostan’s Education
Dr. Elizabeth Rostan is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology. She received her medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Following an internship in internal medicine at Emory University, Dr. Rostan completed specialty training in dermatology at Duke University. After her residency, Dr. Rostan pursued further specialized training in the field of laser surgery and dermatologic cosmetic surgery in La Jolla, California, where she completed a fellowship with Drs. Richard Fitzpatrick (Allure Magazine Beauty Innovator) and Mitchel Goldman.
As a recognized expert in laser surgery, Dr. Rostan has lectured and trained physicians nationally and internationally and has been involved in many clinical studies of innovative laser technologies. Dr. Rostan is the author of many scientific articles, abstracts, and textbook chapters and is highly regarded by her peers, who often consult her for advice in challenging cases.

How did you become interested in aesthetics?

My expertise as a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist—with skills in lasers and devices, injectables, skin care, and skin aesthetics—enables all the providers at Charlotte Skin & Laser to deliver more complete success with their patients’ skin issues. Whether it is rosacea or acne, scarring, aging, or sun damage, we can offer treatment regimens that combine medical and esthetic expertise to achieve better results and healthier skin, increasing patient confidence and overall well-being.
What do you find fulfilling about your work?
I count myself lucky to be a dermatologist. As a dermatologist, I can treat all ages and entire families. I find joy in treating the young as well as the elderly and everyone in between. Dermatology has challenging cases as well as easy home runs—both of which can offer relief to the patients we treat and reward us for finding a solution. That is fulfilling—striving to achieve success for each patient in a way that matches their goals and comfort level!
What do you do outside of practicing medicine?
I have lived in North Carolina most of my life and in Charlotte for the last 23 years. I am grateful to have been part of the Charlotte community for 23 years and still going. I love dogs and typically have a bunch. I have a horse named Salem, an off-the-track thoroughbred, and I enjoy riding him for pleasure. Robert, my husband of 27 years, puts up with me having all these animals. I support animal-related charities and any charity that is a passion of any friend of mine.
My husband and I enjoy golfing together, snow skiing, and pairing fabulous wine with a meal at home. We have a home on Lake James, and I enjoy water skiing and lake time in the summer—with sunscreen and sun-protective clothing, of course!
