Achieve Your Body Goals With Cellulite Reduction

CELLULITE | QWO | INJECTIONS

Winter is here and yoga pants are in. Achieving your body goals can start with cellulite. “QWO” the first injectable treatment for moderate to severe cellulite is here.

“9 out of 10 women will develop cellulite in their lifetime! Many believe that it can be reduced through adequate diet and exercise, but that is not how cellulite works.

Over time as we age the skin starts to thin. Fat cells enlarge and push against the skin while fibrous septae bands under the skin begin to thicken. This causes tension and the ‘dimpling’ that we refer to as cellulite.”

Cellulite Does Happen

What it is? Cellulite is the name for collections of fat that push against the connective tissue beneath your skin. It often appears on your thighs, stomach and buttocks. Cellulite makes the surface of the skin look lumpy and puckered, or appear dimpled.

Why it happens? Cellulite doesn’t affect your overall physical health, and it doesn’t hurt. However, you may not like how it looks and wish to hide it.

Main cause of cellulite: It’s not known what exactly causes cellulite. Cellulite forms when fibrous bands connecting your skin to the underlying muscle tighten irregularly. This tightening pulls down on your skin, and the normal layer of fat beneath the skin pushes upward. The result is a puckering appearance to the skin.

It’s also not known why cellulite is more common in women than men. One theory involves the bands connecting your skin, your hypodermis (subcutaneous tissue) and deep muscle layers. In men, the fibers that make up the connective bands crisscross together. In
women, the fibers that make up the connective bands run the samedirection and are an equal distance apart (parallel). Parallel bands may show puckering better than crisscross bands.

Let's Talk QWO

What it is? Qwo (Collagenase Clostridium Histolyticum-aaes) is a prescription injectable used in office to treat moderate to severe cellulite.

Visible results 28 days after third treatment (21 days apart).

In clinic trials, no post-treatment downtime was required.

The exact mechanism for the treatment of moderate to serve cellulite is unknown.

How does QWO work? Qwo is an enzyme that is thought to work in three ways. It targets the structural cause of cellulite under the skin and releases the fibrous bands. Qwo also redistributes fat cells and promotes the growth of new collagen. These three mechanisms work together to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

What is treatment like? After appropriate photography and dimple marking, Qwo is directly injected into the targeted dimples using a small needle. Up to 24 dimples can be injected at each treatment session. A full treatment series includes three sessions, spaced three weeks apart.

What are the side effects of QWO? The main side effect of Qwo is bruising. Each session includes a VBeam laser treatment for quicker resolution of bruising. Sometimes severe bruising can lead to iron deposits causing hemosiderin staining. This eventually resolves on its own but can last for months. Other side effects may include discomfort at the injection site, itching, redness, swelling, and/or nodules.

What is the aftercare?

There is no downtime with this procedure. You may utilize ice and/or compression (ie spanx) for comfort. Alastin products may assist in healing.

How long do results last?

Results may be noticeable 71 days after the first treatment. You can expect Qwo results to last at least one year, and possibly even longer.

Frequently Asked

WILL WEIGHT LOSS MAKE IT GO AWAY?

Although you can never eliminate cellulite, you can strengthen the connective tissue and the skin that covers the body. If you are in the process of losing weight, include healthy foods that contain calcium, magnesium and other vitamins and minerals that support and strengthen the connective tissue. Massage and exercise also help to strengthen the connective tissue and skin.

Cellulite is a skin and fat issue. Even skinny individuals can have cellulite but with increased fat percentage, cellulite may look more prominent as more fat dimples around the fibrous bands. Exercise can have many benefits and some of those may help cellulite – better muscle tone, less fat – but it may not eliminate cellulite.

Cellulite can appear worse with age due to loss of collagen and elasticity in our skin with age leading to less resistance to the fibrous bands but also increasing skin laxity or droopiness which will accentuate the dimples.
