What Is Fraxel Restore?

The Fraxel Restore laser system is considered one of the best available treatments for non-ablative fractional resurfacing of the face, neck, chest, and hands. Fraxel Restore is the original fractional laser and the most popular one. Fraxel Restore resurfaces damaged skin to reveal younger, more refreshed skin, improving the appearance of wrinkles, scars and age spots through a simple procedure with minimal downtime.

The advanced Fraxel technology offers deeper dermal laser penetration (depths up to 1.6mm) than traditional treatments, and is delivered by laser pulses in fractional patterns. The laser heats tiny columns of tissue on the skin’s surface, stimulating the body’s natural skin cell and collagen regenerative responses. Because of the microscopic laser impact, there is no damage to surrounding healthy tissue, allowing for rapid healing.

Fraxel Restore Treatment

For the Fraxel Restore procedure, a topical anesthetic ointment will be applied to the treatment area for one hour prior to treatment. After the laser treatment, your skin may burn slightly and appear pink or red. This burning sensation usually lasts less than an hour.

Treated skin is typically pink or red for several days and may be swollen. Makeup can be used to cover the redness. Over the next several days, the skin may develop a rough texture and some flaking as the treated skin is exfoliated and new, fresh skin takes its place.

Fraxel Restore Results

The results of the Fraxel Restore treatment are visible immediately after the procedure and continue to improve over time; however, acne scars typically take several months to show maximum improvement.

Most patients can achieve effective results from three to five treatment sessions spaced about four weeks apart. Acne scars or deeper wrinkles may require additional treatments. Patients can return to work very quickly after each session, usually within 12–24 hours.

What Is Fraxel Restore Dual?

Fraxel Restore Dual is a combination-wavelength laser that offers the convenience of non-ablative procedures with little to no downtime. It treats deep tissue to target wrinkles, texture, and collagen rebuilding. The upper layers are also targeted to affect brown spots and pigmentation.

What Happens During Fraxel Restore Dual Treament?

First, your skin will be cleansed. Then, about an hour prior to treatment, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area. The procedure itself takes 15–25 minutes for a full face. After the treatment, most patients feel as if they have a sunburn, which usually diminishes within 1–3 hours.
