The Fraxel Re:Store laser system is considered one of the best available treatments for non-ablative fractional resurfacing of the face, neck, chest and hands. Fraxel Re:Store is the original fractional laser and the most popular one. Fraxel Re:Store resurfaces damaged skin to reveal younger, more refreshed skin, improving the appearance of wrinkles, scars and age spots through a simple procedure with minimal downtime.
The advanced Fraxel technology offers deeper dermal laser penetration (depths up to 1.6mm) than traditional treatments, and is delivered by laser pulses in fractional patterns. The laser heats tiny columns of tissue on the skin’s surface, stimulating the body’s natural skin cell and collagen regenerative responses. Because of the microscopic laser impact, there is no damage to surrounding healthy tissue, allowing for rapid healing.
The Fraxel Re:store laser is an excellent treatment for:
- Age spots/Sunspots
- Skin resurfacing and renewal
Fraxel Re:store is a true nonsurgical alternative to more invasive surgical and resurfacing procedures as it significantly reduces the risks and recovery time associated with facelifts and other resurfacing procedures. Fraxel can also be considered a potentially preventative treatment, as it stimulates renewal of collagen under skin, keeping it supple and healthy.
For the Fraxel Re:store procedure, a topical anesthetic ointment will be applied to the treatment area for one hour prior to treatment. After the laser treatment, your skin will burn slightly and will appear pink or red. This burning sensation will last less than an hour.
Treated skin is typically pink or red for several days and may be swollen. Makeup can be used to cover the redness. Over the next several days, the skin will have a rough texture and some flaking of skin may occur as the treated skin is exfoliated and new, fresh skin takes its place.
The results of the Fraxel Re:store treatment are visible immediately after the procedure and continue to improve with time; however, acne scars typically take several months to show maximum improvement.
Most patients can achieve effective results from three to five treatment sessions spaced about four weeks apart — acne scars or deeper wrinkles may require more treatments. Patients can return to work very quickly after each of these sessions, usually within 12-24 hours.
The results of the Fraxel Re:store procedure vary depending on each patient’s individual skin, but most report significant improvement to the overall quality of their skin, including:
- Reduced appearance of brown spots
- Reduced fine lines and wrinkles
- Improved appearance of acne and surgical scars
- Improved tone and texture
Fraxel combined with good skin care and other cosmetic treatments can help you maintain healthy, beautiful skin that defies your age.
