Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
Restylane® and Juvéderm® are injectable fillers composed of a biodegradable gel called hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance within the body. In addition to adding fullness to the skin, these hyaluronic acid fillers attract water molecules to the site of the injection, further enhancing their effectiveness.
Restylane and Juvéderm® provide results that are noticeable immediately after injection, although it may take a few days for swelling to subside. There are minimal complications, and day-to-day activities can be resumed immediately afterwards with no downtime necessary, but we recommend minimal exertion for the first 24 hours to reduce bruising. To maintain its effects, additional Restylane or Juvéderm® injections should be administered about 4 to 8 months later.
For deeper areas, Perlane® may be selected. Also made of hyaluronic acid, Perlane is similar in consistency to Restylane®, but contains larger gel particles that help lift and fill deeper depressions.
For fine lines, Belotero Balance® may be selected. This also a hyaluronic acid that is used to specifically treats etched-in lines around the vertical lips and around the lips. It gently fills in the lines without building volume giving way to a smoother, more natural appearance.
